Sometimes the two of you just want to get away.
Ca la Maria (countryside setting)
Small and intimate with different dining areas: inside there’s a traditional dining room with old wooden tables and a cosy feeling. Our favourite space, though, is the semi-covered outside dining room and terrace, where you can watch the chickens and ducks from the window. And in the summer, enjoy the warm evening breeze as the terrace opens up completely. Ca la Maria is a romantic little place and you won’t be alone but you won’t be bothered by large groups, either. The food is first class, all organic and local produce, with an emphasis on slow food, creativity and fresh local ingredients. Maria herself is very charming and will make your meal a pleasure with her attentive, friendly and relaxed style. Drive time: 20 mins from Villa CP.
Nu (Girona old town)
It’s modern Catalan dining in a chic interior. You can combine a meal at Nu with a stroll around the ancient city, or even a walk over the city walls. There are plenty of bars nearby where you could have an aperitivo. Nu is not cheap; it’s fancy. The cuisine is modern, cosmopolitan gastronomy and the wines are a superior selection, so for somebody who’s been cooking all week and looking after a family, it might just be the sort of spoil-yourselves treat that lets you both sit back and feast on the culinary expertise of the region, in sophisticated surroundings. Drive time: 30 mins from Villa CP.
Hostal Llagosta (seaside)
Just 10 meters from the beach, a fantastic location and great food. They make beautiful fish stews and various fishy rice dishes, for example, which are great for two sharing. Best to reserve by phone, to be sure you get a nice spot on the terrace. Perfect for dinner in the summer.
