And here is our quick list of local favourites, all suitable for families with kids and within easy reach.

  • Can Xiquet 15 mins away. A large, family-run restaurant with good traditional Catalan cooking and friendly service. It’s big enough for large groups and it’s not too far (15 minutes by car). Closed Wednesdays and Sunday nights. Reservation not usually required except for large groups. Kids can run around and play outside and they’re welcome inside too!  Tel 972462018. Their website gives a good impression of the place and food.
  • Els Tinars 20 mins away. If you only have one special meal during your stay, make it here. Reservations recommended for lunch or dinner. A Michelin star, exquisite food and professional service, yet still relaxed and welcoming. Kids can play outside and they are also welcome inside. Again, their website is worth a visit. Closed Sunday evenings and Mondays excluding August. Tel 972830626.
  • Take aways in the village of Cassà de la Selva: Chinese next to Mercadona supermarket; kebabs near Caprabo supermarket; pizza in the central square.
